Thursday Threads: Raccooned

I mentioned, when I recapped January, that a sweater was among my purchases for the month. I live far to the north, so I figured it was time to do something about the fact that I only have a couple of sweaters that fit me properly and add a couple to my collection. In the late fall I was on the hunt for a fox sweater, but I couldn't find one that seemed right for my style in my budget. However, this raccoon sweater caught my eye as I was doing some browsing, and I decided to give it a chance. Yesterday was it's first outing.
Sweater - ASOS, Skirt - Anthropologie, Tights - Target, Boots - Bandolino, Watch - Michael Kors

Honestly, I was a little bit unsure that I could pull this off, but I received numerous compliments on it from colleagues, friends, and students. I think that it may have received more real-life accolades in a single wearing than any other piece I've ever worn aside from my wedding dress. So I call that a sartorial success. Even Bailey wanted to let me know she adored it.

How do you feel about the animal trend that's been happening these past few months?

  2. the animal sweaters are really cute, but I'll admit i've been trying to avoid them and not get sucked into the trend.

but who doesn't love receiving real life compliments on something? so definitely a good purchase.

  3. So cute!
I picked up a "French chic(ks)" shirt at J Crew last fall. The print is allover and not obvious from a distance, so it doesn't pack the punch of your Rocky Raccoon!

  4. Oh, your sweater is adorable! It looks really cozy too--perfect for your northern outpost :-)

To be honest, I haven't really given the animal trend thing much thought. But man, if I could find a shirt or top with a turtle, lizard, or armadillo on it, I'd scoop it up in a heartbeat. Those animals are my favorite "wild" animals that I've seen in Texas. I also like the turkey vultures, but I'm not sure I want to wear one...(poor vultures. I think they get a bad rap from humans.)

  6. Adore this sweater on you but have been avoiding the trend as am unsure I can make it look ungrandmotherly. One has to have, I think, a little cool funk to their look to pull off this trend!

Also, that skirt is adorbs, as is Bailey.
