Musings on Yoga Goals

Source
One of my goals for 2011 was to reestablish a regular yoga practice, and in order to really solidify that practice early in the year I had decided to do Yoga Journal's 21 Day Challenge that began on January 10th.  I'm doing something of a modified challenge because right now, between my running schedule and my work schedule, I don't intend to do physical asana every day.  I am approaching this challenge in much the same way that I have come to approach my mat and my mysore rug over the past couple of years: I can take modifications, powering through is not always beneficial.  Since my long term goal for the year is to practice 3-4 times a week, I am hoping to do 4-5 practices for each of the three weeks of the challenge.

I do have a couple of issues with these streaming videos.  One is that there doesn't seem to be a way to make them full screen.  (If anyone else is doing this challenge and has found a way to view full screen, please let me know!)  I also have to admit that I don't love that just as soon as you are instructed to settle into savasana the clip comes to an end with music that makes me feel like I'm in an elevator.

Having these resources, in spite of those couple of shortcomings,  in addition to the podcasts I have from Yoga Download and from my own experience with kundalini yoga and the ashtanga primary series is allowing me to accomplish my goal of practicing yoga at home regularly.  Since Monday I've done three of the sequences provided by Yoga Journal and a short asana practice on my own.
